The Graduate Certificate in Health Management provides students with the  theoretical and technical capacities for current and future health leadership roles in health service management in Australia or internationally. The Graduate Certificate provides understanding in a range of health management domains. Graduates evelop high level skills for professional practice in a range of health service settings: hospital and community healthcare services, aged care services, Ministries and Departments of Health, Government and Non-Government and voluntary organisations, primary care and general practice, in both public and private sectors. Graduates are equipped to contribute knowledge and techniques with well-developed judgement for improving health service outcomes in specific and diverse health management contexts.

This program is available for students who wish to exit the Master of Health Management degree program after completing the core courses.This program has been designed to provide students with the essential knowledge, skills and attributes required for senior managerial roles in health service delivery.

The Master Public Health / Master of Health Management (Extension) dual program is an innovative approach to postgraduate health education enabling candidates to specialise in both public health and health management and develop research skills in health management.The dual MPH / MHM (Extension) program provides students with advanced disciplinary knowledge and skills to undertake population health and health services management roles in government, community and health service settings in Australia and internationally. The program develops public health and health services leaders who have the capabilities to manage within increasingly complex and rapidly changing health system environments. The program promotes sophisticated understanding and application across the complex body of multidisciplinary knowledge of public health and health management including: epidemiology, biostatistics, social determinants of health, health promotion, population targeted health research methods, leadership and workforce management, strategic planning and change management, quality improvement, and health program and policy design, implementation and evaluation. Graduates are equipped with the specialised skills needed for health management research and evidence based professional practice and leadership across a range of contexts including ministries and departments of health, government and non-government and voluntary organisations, primary care and community healthcare services in both public and private sectors. The program fosters judgment-ready practitioners critically reflexive practitioners who can manage and improve health service systems and outcomes and can contribute to improving public health outcomes in diverse settings.

The Master of Public Health (MPH) is widely recognised as essential for a career in population health, including health promotion, primary health  care, policy formulation, research, and management of health programs. The Master of Health Management (MHM) has been designed to provide students with the essential nowledge, skills and attributes required for senior  managerial roles in health service delivery.  Candidates wishing to qualify for both the Master of Public Health and the Master of Health Management can do so with a total of 72 UoC.

The Graduate Certificate in Public Health provides preparation for education, research, and service in aspects of public health.

A Public Health degree is widely recognised as essential for a career in population health, including health promotion, primary health care, policy formulation, research, and management of health programs.The Public Health programs provide preparation for education, research and service in all aspects of public health. The program includes study in epidemiology, quantitative and qualitative research methods, health services management, health promotion, development and education in health, as well as a systematic review of topical public health issues. It is designed to address the continuing education needs of specialists in public health as well as providing a general orientation to public health issues and methods for the health professions.

The Master Public Health (Extension) program extends students’ knowledge and skills in public health research by allowing candidates to undertake an advanced research project. Many graduates occupy key positions in health services and universities in Australia, and the Western Pacific and Asian regions, or undertake a PhD in Public Health as the first step in developing a career in public health research. The Master of Public Health (Extension) program provides students with advanced disciplinary knowledge and skills to undertake population health roles in government, community and health service settings in Australia and internationally. The program fosters sophisticated understanding and application across the complex body of multidisciplinary knowledge of public health including epidemiology, biostatistics, social determinants of health, health promotion, population targeted health research methods, and health program design, implementation and valuation. Graduates are equipped with the specialised skills needed for research and professional practice in public health across a range of contexts including ministries and departments of health; government, non-government and voluntary organisations; primary care and community healthcare services in the public and rivate sectors, and in academic institutions.

The program cultivates sophisticated knowledge and skills in public health and health management that can be applied to a broad range of highly complex population health issues in international settings including resource constrained, middle income and more developed countries. Graduates acquire a complex body of multidisciplinary knowledge of global public health and health management including epidemiology, biostatistics, social determinants of health, health promotion, population health research methods, leadership and workforce management, strategic planning and change management, quality and safety improvement, and health program and policy design, implementation and evaluation. The program fosters judgment-ready critically eflexive practitioners who are able to manage and improve health service systems and outcomes and contribute to improving public health outcomes in diverse settings drawing on a global health perspective.
