This rewarding program focuses on contemporary issues involving gifted and talented students as well as the development of curricula and teaching strategies for their learning needs.

A specialist program designed to address increasing demands to explore, critique and contribute to the study of higher education. The program will provide an opportunity to explore the context, purpose, and role of higher education as well as contemporary issues in relevant theory and practice through a range of courses covering adult learning, curriculum, leadership and change, philosophy, policy and research methodologies.

The Master of Systems Engineering (MSysEng) is designed for postgraduate scholars who wish to develop a high level understanding of the principles and practices of systems engineering and to strengthen their skills in this area. 

In addition to the stand alone MSysEng degree award, the following specialisations are also available in this program:

 The program aims to allow students to develop a high level of understanding of the principles that shape systems engineering and their implementation through the design, development and application phases. 

The Master of Public Health with an emphasis in Public Security (MPHPS) equips public health graduates with unique skills in emerging public health risks, disasters, terrorism, bioterrorism, disease intelligence, and in public health preparedness, response and control. This course is for professionals involved in any aspect of public security preparedness and response, who wish to be intellectually challenged to think outside the square, and to gain new critical skills which can be applied in their professional practice. Ongoing global political instability and conflict perpetuates the risk of terrorism, bioterrorism and other chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear risks. In addition, natural disasters and forced displacement of people pose additional public health challenges which require an understanding of health aspects of emergency response and disaster recovery. This degree presents a range of subjects to equip graduates with advanced public health skills as well as skills in health aspects of disasters and terrorism. Public health practitioners, clinicians, emergency services, police and the military need to be aware of these risks and have the public health knowledge and skills to understand and respond effectively to them.

The Master of Infectious Diseases Intelligence (MIDI) is essential for a  career in health emergencies, outbreaks, infectious diseases risk assessment and emergency response related to infectious diseases and other threats. The MIDI provides students with advanced disciplinary knowledge and skills in infectious diseases revention and control in a range of settings including in emergencies, as well as risk assessment, surveillance and related roles in government, community and health service settings in Australia and internationally. The program fosters sophisticated understanding and application across a complex body of multidisciplinary knowledge including infectious diseases intelligence, outbreak investigation, immunisation and tropical disease control. Graduates are equipped with the specialised skills needed for professional practice in control of infectious diseases and emergencies across a range of contexts including ministries and departments of health, government organisations, non-government and voluntary organisations, and primary care and community healthcare services in both public and privatesectors. The program fosters judgment-ready practitioners who can contribute to improving population health outcomes specific to infectious diseases in diverse settings.

The Graduate Diploma in Infectious Disease Intelligence aims to impart skills in effective management or control of infectious diseases. Student chooses from a range of specialty courses in infectious diseases including HIV control, immunisation practice, and current challenges in infectious Diseases. The program articulates with the Master of Public Health in Infectious Diseases Epidemiology specialisation as well as the Master of International Health. This program is aimed at health professionals who seek to increase their capacity around the management of infectious disease control strategies and those who wish to change to a career in infectious disease epidemiology. This program offers an entirely web-based study program enabling participants to effectively integrate their learning into their daily professional life without the costly disruption that face-to-face coursework entails. Individual courses within the Program have been developed so as to provide a practice-based and authentic approach to this field of study.
