The newly-developed Bachelor of International Public Health prepares students for new approaches to emerging global and public health issues including prevention, public health surveillance, health promotion, communicable and non-communicable diseases, environmental health, and global health systems. The programme is designed to build and strengthen the international public health workforce and comprises coursework from ASU, King’s and UNSW. As well as a unique course structure and online delivery, there is potential for internships with leading development agencies, study abroad placements, and engagement with industry. A highlight of the program is two courses jointly developed and taught across UNSW and ASU: Comparative Health Systems and International Indigenous Health. It is aligned with US accreditation standards and consistent with recommendations of Council of Academic Public Health Institutions in Australia (CAPHIA).

The ASU Online Master of International Health Management advances the core principles of the PLuS Alliance by developing solutions to global challenges and generating social impact in health and health care. It is an international collaborative degree program in a sector that aligns itself with global awareness and cultural competence, and provides students access to global academic networks and industry partners. Students will learn skill sets required at the leadership and management level – policy, economics, finance, safety, and development - taught by two world renowned research universities drawing from areas of faculty expertise. All students will complete core coursework in health care management and finance and comparative health systems, then select a four-course track focusing on health informatics, quality improvement in health care, health economics, or hospital management. Students then choose four electives, available from both universities, to further strengthen skill sets in desired areas. Finally, students complete a portfolio at the end of the degree program to demonstrate mastery of concepts.

This Master of Arts in Emergency Management and Homeland Security program provides you with skills and knowledge to manage and assume positions of leadership within the field of emergency management and homeland security. Concepts of public policy and management, criminal justice, science, and technology are blended together to enhance and foster critical thinking within the general field of study.

Based upon integrative science, this degree transcends the confining boundaries of traditional programs and emphasizes a systems approach. More specifically, an all hazards/all-threats orientation provides you with a generalist perspective which is critically important for today’s and tomorrow’s disaster managers. You will participate in a culminating experience, which is a mentored applied project tying theory to practice.

The biosecurity and threat management concentration provides motivated students with knowledge, skills and abilities to assume leadership and key management positions with public sector agencies (or related organizations) with operations and responsibilities in public health, homeland security, risk management, and several closely related fields. Biosecurity refers generally to policies and organizational practices related to protecting humans and animals from hazardous biological agents, whether they appear naturally or through malicious intent (e.g. bioterrorism).

This concentration area is designed to meet the career and professional development needs for those students interested in those fields. In additional to being relevant to public health agencies and general public safety agencies, the concentration is also well-suited for those interested in private sector organizations, such as positions managing emergency preparedness issues for private hospitals or general threat management services with a wide range of different private sector firms.

The Master of Arts in Global Security, offered by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University prepares students to respond to the multitude of causes of conflict around the globe. More than 100 experts from ASU have combined their experiences and knowledge to create this degree program so that students receive perspective from multiple fields including political science, history, law, public policy, religious studies, and engineering. Students of the Master of Arts in Global Security explore security theory and current global events from the perspective of military, former government officials, journalists and scholars. This fully-online format engages students in policy-oriented discussions and debates to prepare them for careers in military leadership positions, risk assessment, political leadership, and professions benefitting human rights and human aid or international development.

The Master of Cyber Security Operations is a postgraduate award offered by the School of Engineering and Information Technology. It is designed for postgraduate scholars and professional managers with appropriate undergraduate qualifications in management or a related discipline and/or extensive relevant professional experience who wish to gain a more detailed understanding of the managerial and technical skills and expertise relevant to planning, operation and acquisition of the cyber security function. This coursework masters degree is designed to meet the demand for executives and managers who oversee the cyber security function in government, industry, law enforcement and Defence.  It provides  principles gathered from information systems, cyber security, risk, management and governance for managers seeking to  enhance their career in cyber security operations. 

The Master of Cyber Security, Strategy and Diplomacy offered online by UNSW, Sydney is for students seeking to advance their knowledge and careers in the fields of diplomacy, defense, justice, public safety, regulatory sciences, management or information sciences. In this program, students will delve into current issues of security presented by advances in information technology in order to mitigate the expansion of cyber threats. Delve into issues around cyber security such as ethical practices, technological challenges, policies and operations management. This program is designed for postgraduate scholars, as well as managing professionals with undergraduate qualifications and/or professional experience in the social sciences, humanities or information sciences.

The Master of Infectious Diseases Intelligence (MIDI) is essential for a  career in health emergencies, outbreaks, infectious diseases risk assessment and emergency response related to infectious diseases and other threats. The MIDI provides students with advanced disciplinary knowledge and skills in infectious diseases revention and control in a range of settings including in emergencies, as well as risk assessment, surveillance and related roles in government, community and health service settings in Australia and internationally. The program fosters sophisticated understanding and application across a complex body of multidisciplinary knowledge including infectious diseases intelligence, outbreak investigation, immunisation and tropical disease control. Graduates are equipped with the specialised skills needed for professional practice in control of infectious diseases and emergencies across a range of contexts including ministries and departments of health, government organisations, non-government and voluntary organisations, and primary care and community healthcare services in both public and privatesectors. The program fosters judgment-ready practitioners who can contribute to improving population health outcomes specific to infectious diseases in diverse settings.

The Master of Public Health with an emphasis in Public Security (MPHPS) equips public health graduates with unique skills in emerging public health risks, disasters, terrorism, bioterrorism, disease intelligence, and in public health preparedness, response and control. This course is for professionals involved in any aspect of public security preparedness and response, who wish to be intellectually challenged to think outside the square, and to gain new critical skills which can be applied in their professional practice. Ongoing global political instability and conflict perpetuates the risk of terrorism, bioterrorism and other chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear risks. In addition, natural disasters and forced displacement of people pose additional public health challenges which require an understanding of health aspects of emergency response and disaster recovery. This degree presents a range of subjects to equip graduates with advanced public health skills as well as skills in health aspects of disasters and terrorism. Public health practitioners, clinicians, emergency services, police and the military need to be aware of these risks and have the public health knowledge and skills to understand and respond effectively to them.

The Nuclear Power Generation graduate certificate at Arizona State University is a multidisciplinary professional program that examines the study of nuclear science and engineering. Students establish the fundamentals of nuclear science and delve into reactor theory, power plant dynamics, structural materials, and operational safety. Within this program, students are also able to take advantage of elective courses to tailor their studies toward personal career goals within the discipline. Graduates of the certificate program will be well positioned for careers such as: Nuclear power reactor operators; nuclear engineers; nuclear equipment technicians; power plant operators; and emergency management directors.

The health sciences field is the single largest industry in the country, accounting for more than 14 million jobs. Many of the fastest growing occupations today are in health sciences. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, health sciences occupations are expected to generate as many as 3 million new jobs by 2016. In addition, the field of health education is expected to grow by 20 percent, or roughly 25,000 new jobs, in the next decade.

This is a cross-disciplinary program designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to position you for a range of career opportunities in health-related fields. As a graduate of this program, you will be well prepared for success as a manager in your original field of expertise, such as Medical Radiology, Nuclear Medicine Technology, and Histology Technology. Other career opportunities, depending upon the focus of original AAS study, include positions as health educators, elder services program coordinators, long-term care health and wellness coordinators, and community nutrition aides. You'll also be uniquely qualified for graduate study in applied programs such as gerontology, family sciences, and health education.

The online BAS in Internet and Web Development focuses on the development of web sites, including user experience design, usability, multimedia design, emerging Web technologies, and cross-media and cross-platform graphic applications. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, computer and information technology occupations are projected to have 4.4 million jobs by 2024, higher than the average for all other occupations. Appropriate AAS degrees for this BAS are graphic design, graphic arts, fine arts, or a technical discipline with related work experience.

As an art history major, you'll be offered a diverse curriculum that fosters critical understanding of the aesthetics, production, patronage and consumption of art. Courses examine art history from a wide variety of cultures, time periods, and geographies through multiple approaches and methodologies. As a student studying business with a concentration in global leadership, you'll study international management and leadership and have the opportunity to select a track in Latin American studies or from other parts of the world. You'll take a range of courses including Global Justice, Comparative Politics, Principles of International Business, and Global Marketing Management. You'll become fluent in cultural sensitivity and awareness, adept in understanding and bridging cultural divides, and effective in leveraging diversity for business gains. You'll also explore international leadership and management, learn to lead on a global scale, and graduate with immediate relevance in the world of global business. You will also examine all aspects of Business Sustainability through courses such as Economics of Sustainability, Global Supply Operations, Business and Sustainability, and Global Supply Chain Management. Graduates in sustainability and business are uniquely qualified for career paths in agribusiness, supply chain management, corporate responsibility, compliance, operations, international development, policy and governance, and urban dynamics. The Bachelor of Arts in business with a concentration in tourism delivers the skills, knowledge, and experience you need to thrive in the tourism industry and affiliated professions. You’ll gain an understanding of industry-specific marketing techniques, learn to effectively interact with many different types of businesses, and graduate with the qualifications for a variety of leadership and management roles in the recreation and tourism industries. Developing tourism and recreation opportunities requires an understanding of effective marketing techniques and the ability to interact with many different types of businesses that support those efforts. Potential employers include resorts, commercial recreation businesses, tourism development companies and travel and tourism bureaus.

As a student in the Educational Studies program, you will critically examine the role of education in a global society; evaluate the impact of educational programs on diverse populations; demonstrate an enhanced understanding of how social injustices such as poverty, under-resourced schools, environmental issues, and immigration can affect student achievement. You will also learn how to apply principles of learner motivation in evaluating learning environments and reflect on the importance of social embeddedness in community-based settings.

This program will prepare students interested in post-graduate degrees in education or education-related fields. This degree does not lead to teacher certification but will prepare you to serve children, youths, and adults outside traditional classrooms.

The Bachelor of Arts in English will provide you with a solid cross-discipline selection of high-quality courses while still having complete control over your daily schedule. The undergraduate program prepares students for an ever-expanding variety of careers or to continue their studies in graduate and professional programs. Students supplement a core focused on critical reading and writing with courses chosen from literature and writing to shape an individual curriculum.

Through integrated study, you will be prepared for a variety of careers that require teamwork, analytical interpretation, problem-solving, strong and effective oral and written communication, and leadership skills. Based on a broad liberal arts education focused on the humanities, the BA in film and media studies degree will give you the ability to think analytically and speak and write clearly and persuasively - skills in demand across almost all sectors of the global economy. Our program develops these skills through a variety of discussion-based and writing intensive courses. We offer a broad range of courses that reflect trends and rapid transformations in the film and media industries and will prepare you for increasingly sophisticated forms of artistic expression and storytelling. Graduates with degrees in film and media studies have secured jobs in the entertainment industry as creative executives, producers, managers and writers. They work in media arts, story and production development, exhibition, distribution and film, and television and video game production. Some students complete graduate studies and secure jobs in journalism as film and media critics.

As a student, you will gain a unique perspective of the modern world, from local to global, through the lens of space and place. Offered completely online, this program focuses on human and cultural traditions throughout the world in regions such as Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America. You will explore topics including population and migration, geographic information science and technology, and urban and regional geography.

As a geography graduate, you will be qualified for careers in a broad variety of fields, including GIS, community development, urban planning, foreign service, intelligence analysis, travel and tourism. You will also be prepared for graduate work in areas such as cultural geography, climate science, GIScience and spatial analysis, and environmental and landscape dynamics.

The global nature of this program is incorporated anthropologically - to understand disease, health and well-being in ways that incorporate a variety of cultures, places, and time along with their social, biological, historical, and ecological significance. The curriculum focuses on developing skills in teamwork, problem solving, critical thinking, and the importance of direct experience through research, study abroad, or related activities. As a global health student, you'll cultivate the ability to approach complex problems through social components by identifying issues, asking questions, and collaborating with others to create effective solutions.
